Objective To understand the relationship between temperature and blood pressure in north part and south part of China, and provide the scientific basis for making relative intervention measures. Methods The blood pressure data were from "China Chronic Disease and Risk Factor Surveillance in 2018",the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select the residents (≥18 years old) in China as the subjects (116 368 cases),the investigation was performed with face-to-face questionnaire, physical measurement and laboratory examination. The data of temperature were form reanalysis data of ERA5. Analysis of variance, single factor linear regression,Kruskal-Wallis H test and multivariate linear regression were used to analyze data;the restricted cubic spline (RCS) was used to draw curve of exposure response between temperature and blood pressure. Results The average systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in 2018 were (125.4±17.3) mm Hg and (75.8±10.7) mm Hg;the average SBP and DBP in residents of north China were significantly higher than those in residents of south China (P<0.01). The restricted cubic spline of exposure response between temperature and blood pressure showed that in north China there was a linear negative relationship between temperature and SBP,but there was a U relationship between temperature and DBP;however in south China there was the nolinear negative relationship between temperature and SBP or DBP.The multivariate linear regression analysis showed that in south China as compared with temperature ≥18 ℃,the SBP and DBP in residents with temperature <10 ℃ (β values were 3.67 and 2.11),the temperature 10-<14 ℃ (β values were 2.23 and 1.21),the temperature 14-<18 ℃ (β values were 1.62 and 1.30) were significantly higher (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion The blood pressure in adults of north China is higher than that of south China, there is difference of the relationship between temperature and blood pressure. In extreme temperature (especially extreme low temperature),the measures should be taken to increase the rate of blood pressure detection, and to promote the maintenance of normal blood pressure in different areas.
